Season 2
of Supernatural
started off with a kick, which was great. So much of a kick that I was more excited in the season premier
than I was when the last season
ended. I guess that's what they pay the writers for, tho. I definitely didn't like the big turn they took in the first episode, but it's something you learn to deal with, I guess.
I was glad that Dean and Sam finally learned about their father's sacrifice. Early on, I suspected he'd be back in the season finale. I wasn't sure if he'd be brought back to life, but I figured he'd communicate with his sons in some way and them saving him somehow. Well, in the end, it was kind of the other way around. I do admit that it was somewhat touching for him to be there for them one last time. I don't imagine he'll be back next season. If he is, it'll be in the season finale when Dean's time is up.
In The Usual Suspects
, Dean made a comment about how the police woman who helped them, played by Linda Blair
, seemed familiar. This always means something, so I did a little digging -- not that it's hard with the interent -- and I found out she was in The Exorcist
. Not that it needs to be said, but the claimed familiarity must have been because of the similarity between Supernatural and The Exorcist. Not that I usually notice small things like this, but they always make the show a little interesting. This is perhaps one reason I really like Smallville
, with all of its hidden meanings.
The last two episodes were absolutely awesome.
My only real disappointment was the lack of seeing Sam's true power. Ever since the initial sneak peak, I've been drooling over every possible chance at him honing his skills. These last two are a huge teaser in that sense.
All I can do is hope for something more in the next season; however,
with yellow-eyes gone
, I'm not too hopeful there. Nonetheless, I am excited to see what's on the horizon. They've definitely spun the story up enough to build for an exciting finale next season.
