Season 5 of Stargate SG-1 was great, as I've come to expect. This season was all about wrapping up old stories, tho. I want to say there were 7 or so episodes that simply ended or at least tried to wrap up previous open-ended episodes. That almost made this season seem like it was on the verge of being the last. Luckily, there are 5 more. I can't wait to see them all, but I better slow down if I want to see them all without waiting for season 10 to be released on DVD. One thing I do have to say, tho, is that the season finale wasn't quite the nail-biter some of the previous seasons. There was a very big surprise at the end, tho -- something I never would've guessed. All I can say is that I have always been a great fan of Michael Shank's character, Daniel Jackson. Despite his nerdy ways, he has definitely proven himself as a strong member of the team. This season finale simply echoed that. In spite of the fact that this finale wasn't as action-packed, I'm actually more intent on starting the next season than I ever was before. Man, these writers really know how to throw some punches!
UPDATE: It turns out I missed an episode. What I earlier thought was teh finale was the second-to-last episode of the season, Meridian . The finale, Revelations , was exactly what I was expecting -- an action-packed episode with a very big surprise. While I was admittedly surprised when I saw Meridian, Revelations was even more surprising. And, some of my primary fears from Meridian were left with a glimpse of hope for the future. Season 6 will definitely bring some interesting times.
